Sunscreen Stuff

Hey everyone! So I mentioned last post I'd talk about my sunscreen routine, and here it is! Click on anything to see a link on where to buy and a price.

Face:
Tinted Face Stick: This Headhunter face stick is seriously amazing. It's tinted, so I don't really need to put on foundation, just a few dabs of concealer. It stays on SO LONG even when in water. Even though it's a really thick consistency, it doesn't make me break out. I usually only use this on my face, and it protects me well at SPF 45. There's a clear version too if you don't like the tinted. Just be sure to wash it off really well because it stays on so strongly.

Face Moisturizer: This moisturizer is a great sunscreen for the face to put on throughout the day so your face stays moisturized. The sun will dry it out like crazy. It's not too big, so it's an easy travel item, and it smells really good too. It's even a good every day moisturizer because it's pretty light weight.

Heavy Duty Face Sunscreen: For long day's out in the sun, I'll use Neutrogena clear face sunscreen SPF 55. It's really nice that it's oil free and doesn't cause breakouts. It's a good sunscreen that protects well, and pretty much does what it's made to do.

Body:
Spray Sunscreen: Another Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen, this spray is seriously amazing. It smells SO good when it sets into the skin, sorta like coconut and floral mixed together. It's not a greasy spray like a lot of others are, and it does its job well. At SPF 30, its perfect for a long day in the sun (as long as you reapply). It applies much faster than a cream too. I love this stuff, and have probably gone through 10 bottles of it. It's the only sunscreen I use for the body.

Well that's it! Hope you have a great day in the sun!

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Weekend everyone! While this is a great 3-day weekend for most schools in America, it's also important to remember what Memorial Day is all about, especially if you have a big military family like I do. With that said, it was a great weekend full of friends and family and going up north to do some boating and FINALLY SOME SUN! Because I don't have my camera, I'll be doing my sunscreen, daytime skin care post in a bit, but for now I would just like to tell everyone to enjoy the weekend and enjoy the warmer weather if you are farther north! See you soon!

Ulta Haul and Weekend Fun!

I convinced my mom to let me have a little shopping date on the cheaper side of Ulta to get a few things on my wish-list.

The most expensive thing was the Real Techniques brushes at $18, and considering you get 5 brushes, that is an amazing deal. I already used most of them, and let me tell you, I absolutely love them. I got two lipsticks, one by Maybelline and one by Nyx. Maybelline is a "14 hour" berry colored one (It doesn't last 14 hours but it's still a pretty color) and the Nyx one is a very, very bright orangy pink. I have a Physicians Formula green powder that, put directly on a spot or red area and with some powder over it, will take the redness away. Green is the complementary color of red, meaning they neutralize each other (and that is my limit for artistic talent) so the red just disappears. I also like to swirl a brush through all the different shades of green. I don't know why it's fun, it just is. I got some Neutrogena eye wipes since I hate wasting any big wipes on just my eyes, and I hate oily eye makeup remover. They are the perfect size. I also got one other thing that isn't pictured which is some lavender bath salts. I've never tried any salts but I love the smell of them and the brand I got (Aromafloria) isn't full of any bad crap. I'll be excited to try those, and being only $3, I couldn't resist.

On a completely different note, I visited Chicago last weekend with my family (quality bonding you know?) to see the Science and Industry Museum. It was actually a lot more fun then I thought it was going to be and since I just completed physics in school, I actually understood a lot of it. It's very interactive. If you ever get the chance, my top three highlights are: 1. The WWII submarine. It's huge (200 some odd feet long) and the stories behind it are so cool. If you get there early enough, you can get tickets to tour inside it which we unfortunately didn't get to do. 2. Storm room. There's a giant metal ring, for lack of a better word, that shoots out lightning. It is seriously cool, kinda scary, but something you shouldn't miss. I think it goes off every hour. 3. The whisper room. It's set up so a you and a friend stand at opposite sides of the room, facing the opposite direction, and when you whisper, you can hear them perfectly. Just don't say anything too secret (oh the pathetic attempt of humor).

Anyway hope your weekend was great! Ciao!

Comfort Food #1

I'm starting series of posts called Comfort Food to talk about the foods I like snacking on the best! My first one is Fresh Market chocolate banana bread. Seriously, it's the best banana bread out there. The bake it fresh, and I know this week it was buy one get one free. They are medium sized and not too pricey. I recommend checking them out if you are in need of a little sweet treat!

Pink Lips

It's been a while since I posted but yay AP tests are over! (Okay they are for another 2 days but I have no more!) Studying kinda sucks and it was overwhelming and overall NOT FUN but I feel pretty confident. So a while back, when it actually felt like spring (now it's only 50 degrees when it should be 70) I tested out the bright pink lip look. With a springy black and white top from White House Black Market, the bright pink was super cute. I used a little bit of Too Faced lipstick in Coral Fire underneath to give it just a hint of orange, then Sephora collection lipstick in Just Dating. I love the playfulness and pop of color. I also had a really bad cold in this picture so I probably don't look so good. Oh the life of a high schooler. I'm going to go to the drugstore eventually and try some lipsticks there, and I'll let you know what I like!

April Favorites!

Now that the chilly month of April is over, it's time for a good old-fashioned favorites post! Click on any product to see a link of where I found a product.

HAIR

John Frieda Frizz-Ease leave in conditioner: I have crazy tangly hair, and this stuff is great! It detangles while nourishing, and it doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy.
Elastic headbands: These headbands are cute and sporty, but they are also really useful. Headbands just don't stay in my hair. Period. But with a few bobby pins, these won't slip at all, and they come in tons of colors. I've been wearing them constantly.
Wen hair products: The styling cream is pictured here, but Wen is a brand of hair products that doesn't include any sulfates or sudsing soaps. I was unsure at first about the cleansing conditioner, thinking, "How can a conditioner WASH my hair?" but I am a complete convert. Yes, you'll need to wash more often, but it's so nourishing, that it doesn't matter. The leave in conditioner and mouse all are amazing products that help nourish dry hair and lock in color, and the pomegranate is my absolute favorite smell.

MAKEUP

Benefit mascara: I've mentioned this mascara before (sorry it's hard to see in the picture dang lighting) and I still absolutely love it. It's a happy medium to all the benefits of mascara, and it lasts forever without flaking off.
Tarte eyeliner: Again, I mentioned this before, but as you can see by how small the pencil is, I use it EVERY DAY. The color golden tiger's eye is a beautiful purple brown red color thats really unique, and it glides on super smooth and lasts forever. I seriously live by this pencil, and I don't think I'll be using anything else for a while. Bonus: It's vegan!

FOOD

Zoku slush/shake maker: If you're like me, and you seriously can't wait for summer, this will help. I stuck some strawberry lemonade in there, and made an amazing slushy. One of the best parts is A. You can put natural ingredients in there instead of icky slushy syrup and B. It doesn't end up tasting like water because there doesn't have to be syrup! It's easy, it works, and it tastes like some good old summer slushies.

RANDOM

Flower Lights: These are absolutely beautiful lights I hung in my room, and they are just so cheerful. Hefty shipping, but seriously worth it.
Mason jar with plant: So I don't have links for these because they were bought from local stores, but I have a classic mason jar and filled it with a fern-type plant that moves when you touch it. I don't have a great history when it comes to plants, but I'm trying something new. And who doesn't love a good mason jar?

NEXT MONTH (things I'm trying and will let you know about for May)

Nars Sheer Matte Foundation: I thought, especially for summer, that a matte foundation would be better for me. I've heard people raving about the sheer glow foundation, so I'd thought I'd try the sheer matte.
Stila Waterproof Liquid LIner: Why I haven't tired this before, I don't know. But the last liquid liner I had was not waterproof AT ALL and, with allergy season coming up, I know I'm gonna get some watery eyes. Hopefully this stays true to the name, but with so many people raving about it, I'm sure it will!
Any other suggestions about what I should try?
